3/21/2025 0 Comments A Host Of Golden Daffodils![]() I have always loved the sight of daffodils, and Wordsworth’s closing line to his famous poem describes the effect of them beautifully when he describes ‘and then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils’ – they really do give us cause to dance with pleasure at the return of warmer weather and the promise of spring. Daffodils are a symbol of strength and the arrival of success. Spring is a time when we see plants starting to grow in the ground or in greenhouse seed trays, but any green fingered gardener will tell you that for seeds to germinate the growing conditions have to be just right. You would not expect a seed to germinate if you planted it in soil that was lacking in nutrients, or that did not have any water, or had been planted in the shade where no light could reach it would you? In order for your growth, and in order for your seeds to grow – be it a new business venture, exciting travel plans, new hobbies or a new romance, you need to ensure that your growing conditions are right too. This is the time to look at your plans for the rest of the year and nurture yourself accordingly. Perhaps join a gym or fitness class, perhaps clear out that cupboard that you know if full of clutter, perhaps your job is not fulfilling and it’s time to look for a new one, or learn a new skill? This season’s crystal picks reflect the joy of these possibilities for growth. Golden Healer Quartz – this glorious golden crystal diffuses fears and insecurities and enhances joy and happiness. It is a crystal that aids with self-healing and works with all the chakra’s bringing healing at all levels and helping us feel inner joy. Try meditating with Golden Healer Quartz and let those barriers of fears and insecurities that get in the way of your happiness fall by the wayside. Green Aventurine – this glorious green crystal always reminds me of Easter. It supports new growth and brings optimism making it especially helpful if you are about to embark on a new project or venture. For Pisceans who are naturally quite sensitive, Green Aventurine can help sooth emotions when there has been an upset particularly if held at the heart chakra. Citrine – this crystal positively pumps happiness into the world bringing optimism, positivity and prosperity with it. If you are a ‘glass half empty’ person, try working with Citrine to see your glass half full. Citrine encourages you to enjoy life, to live in the moment and to take part in activities that make you happy – a feeling that is most definitely catching for all those around you too! The possibilities that surround you this spring time are endless, so as Wordsworth said, allow your ‘heart with pleasure fill and dance with the daffodils’.

12/10/2024 0 Comments Winter - a time to stop and go within.
There is a wonderful quote from Wellesley Tudor Pole which says “Light does not do anything to darkness. It simply shines and the darkness goes away.” December marks the time of the winter solstice celebrating the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. This is a time of alignment, of going deep into the earth, of reflection and nurturing our inner light, and a time to celebrate the return of the sun and the longer daylight hours. My first crystal pick for this winter is snow quartz, symbolising our inner solstice light and the light within us that we shine out into the world. Snow quartz helps with spiritual growth and development - if we think about going within during this wintertime and compare it to nature, we know that although things on the surface appear dormant, under the soil growth is still taking place. Think about the snowdrop which heralds the arrival of spring and know that your spiritual growth and development is maturing this winter to give birth to new ideas and opportunities next spring. Snow quartz promotes feelings of peace and joy, it relieves stress and tension and encourages you to reflect and clear the mind. My second crystal pick is hematite, which anchors our energy to the earth and allows healing energy to flow through. Hematite is a crystal that is commonly used for grounding and has a high iron content. Try holding a piece of hematite and imagine roots growing out of your feet and into the ground, growing all the way down into the center of the earth, and see if you feel more connected and grounded. My final crystal pick is snowflake obsidian. I love this crystal with its little white snowy flecks (which are caused by volcanic ash) – it always reminds me of winter! Snowflake obsidian has very protective properties and it teaches us to value mistakes as well as success - a helpful guide as we go within this wintertime and contemplate our spiritual growth. Snowflake obsidian also calms and soothes and makes isolation and loneliness empowering. This yule, enjoy some time wintering yourself with your crystals. Contemplate what you have learnt about yourself over the past year. Choose what you wish to take forward into the year ahead, reignite your inner light and take it with you to shine out into the new year. I will be holding a crystal circle morning on 18th January 2025 if you need help focusing your intentions for 2025. Email me at [email protected] to book your place. As we bid summer farewell and embrace John Keats' season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, my crystal picks for the season really embody those rich autumn shades that we see all around us.
Smoky quartz with its golden brown colour is known for its purifying and releasing qualities and can help us to release anything that is no longer serving us. The autumn equinox that falls on 21st September marks a point in the year where we have equal hours of light and darkness making it a perfect time for us to look at our own lives to see where we need to come into balance too, perhaps releasing any outdated habits or ways of thinking. Smoky quartz has a calming and stabilizing energy which helps to support us in bringing these changes about. The beautiful golden strength of pyrite brings empowerment and confidence as well as wealth and abundance. If you need strength to bring your life into balance this equinox then pyrite is the perfect companion to help you achieve this. Pyrite works particularly well on the solar plexus chakra so holding a piece of pyrite at this point or imagining you have a pyrite shield protecting you is a great way to bring more strength into your life. Looking ahead to the festival of Samhain on 31st October my next crystal pick is amethyst. This beautiful crystal brings protection, spirituality, guidance and wisdom. Samhain marks the end of the Celtic year and it is a time to be aware of the wisdom and guidance we have had over the past year. Samhain is a time where the veil between us and our ancestors is at its thinnest and we become aware of those who have gone before us. The 31st October commonly known as Halloween, takes its name from All Hallows Eve where we can feel the energies of our ancestors and ask them for their wisdom. Meditating with amethyst over an issue you are struggling to find an answer for may bring you the answers you need. My final crystal pick for autumn is black obsidian. Like amethyst, this crystal offers us protection but it also teaches us to value mistakes as well as success. Making mistakes is natural, but how we view these mistakes can be valuable. Next time something doesn't go according to plan, rather than feel despondent, annoyed or upset, trying looking for the thread of learning that has come out of it and reflect with black obsidian on the positive aspect of that insight. |
